Contour Method–Based Residual Stress Measurement System

FusionENG's Contour Method–based residual stress measurement device (Registered Patent No. 10-1536661, Korea) integrates precision cutting → 3D scanning → FEA back-calculation into a single process, enabling the quantitative reconstruction of internal stress distributions even in complex geometries and large-scale components.

Microscopic relaxation displacements caused by cutting are captured with high-resolution 3D measurements, followed by alignment, noise correction, and boundary condition setup.

The system delivers cross-sectional stress maps, region-of-interest (ROI) path profiles, and decision-ready summary reports. Results are sent as CSV/Input files, allowing seamless integration with existing databases and analysis pipelines. They can be applied to quantitative validation before and after design changes, process parameter optimization, root cause analysis (RCA) of fatigue and cracking, and advanced life prediction.

The device and software include correction algorithms for thermal, vibration, and geometric effects, as well as built-in quality assurance routines such as repeated measurements and sensitivity evaluations. This ensures highly reproducible residual stress assessments, regardless of component size or geometric complexity.
